FAQ

Indoor Air Quality & Our Product

Do not assume that using eco-friendly materials ensures total safety.

Cumulative pollution can arise when multiple materials are used in a space, even if each one meets safety standards individually. The combined effect can lead to overall pollutant levels that surpass safe limits.

Plants & air purifier can help reduce VOCs and improve indoor air quality, their effectiveness is limited and they require regular maintenance.

This may not be practical for all spaces. Additionally, plants & air purifier  cannot address the source of VOC emissions. Therefore, they should be used as a complementary measure.

Titanium dioxide (TiO₂) itself is safe and is not known to cause secondary pollution when used in photocatalytic applications.

TiO₂ effectively break down volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other pollutants  into carbon dioxide (CO₂) and water (H₂O).

It remains unchanged and can be reused. The material does not degrade during the process, making it a durable and effective photocatalyst.

Our VOCs removal solution is not only highly effective at purifying the air but also completely safe for use in homes with pets, kids and expecting mothers. We use non-toxic, ingredients that eliminate harmful compounds without introducing new risks. The technology we employ ensures that VOCs are neutralised at the source, creating a cleaner, healthier environment for your loved ones.

You can breathe easy knowing that your indoor air is not only free of harmful VOCs but also safe for everyone in your home.

Photocatalysts are activated by light, much like the process of photosynthesis in plants.

While traditional photocatalysts typically require strong ultraviolet light to function, our advanced technology utilizes an enhanced form of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) that remains effective even under weak light and natural lighting conditions. This means that our photocatalysts can continuously perform their air-purifying functions in various lighting environments, including indoor settings with ambient or artificial light

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are harmful chemicals emitted by various household products, such as paints, cleaning agents, and building materials. They can cause health issues ranging from headaches and dizziness to respiratory problems and long-term health risks like cancer. Reducing VOCs in indoor environments improves air quality and enhances overall well-being.

The goal of VOC removal, particularly with methods like titanium dioxide (TiO₂), also known as titanium oxide, photocatalysis, is to eliminate harmful substances without generating new problems.

The primary byproducts of this reaction – carbon dioxide (CO₂) and water (H₂O) – are not harmful at the levels produced during photocatalysis. No significant quantities of other harmful gases are typically generated in the process.

TiO₂ itself is a stable and non-toxic material. It does not break down or degrade into harmful byproducts over time, making it safe for long-term use in indoor environments. The photocatalytic process is highly specific, targeting organic compounds like VOCs and breaking them down at the molecular level. The reaction pathway is well-understood and typically does not result in the formation of harmful secondary chemicals or gases.

Yes, TiO₂ is a non-toxic material, and the photocatalytic process does not produce harmful byproducts. It’s safe for use in homes, offices, schools, and other indoor environments where air quality is a concern.

TiO₂ photocatalytic coatings use light to activate titanium dioxide particles, which then generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) like hydroxyl radicals. These ROS break down VOCs and other organic pollutants into simpler, harmless compounds, primarily carbon dioxide and water, effectively purifying the air without releasing additional pollutants.

High levels of CO₂ can be a concern in poorly ventilated indoor environments. However, the CO₂ produced from the breakdown of VOCs during photocatalysis is generally minimal compared to other sources of CO₂ in an indoor environment, such as human respiration, cooking, or combustion.

The amount of VOCs present indoors is typically low, and therefore the amount of CO₂ generated by breaking down these VOCs is also small. VOCs are usually measured in parts per billion (ppb) or parts per million (ppm), and the resulting CO₂ from their breakdown is only a fraction of that amount. In comparison, a single person can exhale about 0.9 kg of CO₂ per day, whereas the photocatalytic breakdown of VOCs generates only trace amounts of CO₂.

The benefits of reducing more dangerous pollutants (like VOCs and bacteria) far outweigh the minor increase in CO₂. That being said, ensuring good ventilation is always a best practice for maintaining healthy indoor air quality.

TiO₂ coatings can last for several years, depending on the environment and the level of exposure to light. Since the coating is not consumed in the reaction, it continues to work as long as it’s exposed to light and remains intact on the surface.

TiO₂ coatings are typically activated by UV light, which is present in sunlight and some artificial lighting. However, newer formulations now can work with visible light, making them effective in indoor environments with standard lighting conditions.

The photocatalytic process begins immediately upon exposure to light, and VOC levels can start to decrease within hours. However, the time it takes to notice a significant improvement in air quality can vary depending on the concentration of VOCs and the area treated. For optimal results, please wait 3 full days for the coating to cure.

Yes, our treatment agents can also break down other organic pollutants, including bacteria, viruses, mould, and odours.

Surfaces can be cleaned as usual 3 days after the coating is applied. Just be mindful to avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the coating.

Yes, TiO₂ photocatalytic coatings are eco-friendly. They do not release harmful chemicals during or after application, and they actively reduce pollutants in the air, contributing to a healthier environment.

Air purifiers filter out air particles but may not remove VOCs or kill bacteria. TiO₂ coatings actively break down pollutants at the molecular level. This provides continuous air purification without the need for electricity or regular maintenance.
